Parents often seek an assessment when a child is struggling at school, having difficulty with attention, learning, memory, emotional regulation, behaviour, or social skills. An assessment can help identify underlying concerns such as ADHD, learning disabilities, or emotional challenges and provide clear recommendations to support your child at home and at school.

We assess children, adolescents, and adults typically starting in early elementary school through to adulthood.
If you’re unsure whether your child’s age is appropriate for an assessment, we’re happy to discuss your concerns and help guide you.
No referral is required to book a private psychological or psychoeducational assessment. However, families may choose to involve their child’s family doctor, paediatrician, or school as part of the assessment and follow-up process.
Psychological and psychoeducational assessments provided in private practice are not covered by OHIP.
However, many extended health insurance plans offer partial coverage. We recommend checking with your insurance provider.
We also provide access to financing through Medicard to assist families get the services they need when they need them, but the flexibility to pay on their own schedule.
Yes. Our assessment reports are comprehensive and are typically accepted by school boards because we have extensive school board experience. We understand what they require to provide accommodations, Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and additional learning supports.

The assessment process usually takes place over multiple sessions. This includes an intake meeting, testing sessions, scoring and interpretation, and a feedback meeting to review results and recommendations. Timelines can vary depending on the type of assessment but generally, from intake to a report in your hands is about 8 weeks.
Yes. ADHD assessments help clarify attention, impulse control, and executive functioning challenges. Results can support school accommodations, behavioural strategies, and conversations with medical professionals about treatment options.
We offer in-person assessment services in Cambridge and Midland, Ontario. However, some components of the process, such as intake or feedback meetings, are usually offer virtually. We find that this helps parents to attend meetings without the added stress of driving, child care, or taking time off work.
At Full Potential, we currently offer Autism assessment for school aged children (6-17) only .
Diagnosing autism in adults can be complicated because they may have other mental health conditions, which can make it harder to determine the cause of symptoms. In addition, it can be difficult to gather information about early childhood development, which is an important part of the assessment. We suggest adults seek the services of a psychiatrist or psychologist who specializes in adult ASD assessments.

We offer early literacy and numeracy interventions, including small group reading and math sessions, as well as individualized academic coaching. Our programs are designed to support skill development in reading, writing, and mathematics for school-aged children and teens.
Academic coaching provides personalized support for students to help them set goals, develop effective study habits, improve organization, and strengthen time management skills. Academic coaches work one-on-one with students to address specific academic challenges.
